Reports just coming in from Ogun State say that the fear of armed robbery attacks has gripped commercial banks in Ijebu Ode, Ago Iwoye, Ijebu Igbo and other surrounding towns.

According to a report published by PM NEWS, commercial banks in Ijebu Igbo and Ago Iwoye, the university town in Ogun state, were shut for the second day on Tuesday over fears of robbery attacks.

It was disclosed that banks in these areas refused to open because the armoured personnel carrier (APC), that the police use to give them protection from bandits was not deployed in the area.
However, it is understood that the APC donated by Governor Ibikunle Amosun to the Nigerian police was not available as at the time of writing this report.

According to the report, banks within the Ijebu axis were not operating due to security concerns before the advent of the administration of Governor Amosun.

Speaking on the armed robbery scare, the chairman of the Vigilante Services of Ogun State, Comrade Ijaoba Odukoya, disclosed that their men and officers patrolled all round the town to ensure that robbers did not seize the on the absence of the APC to attack both the town and the banks.
