New Ogun CP assures Ijebu banks of adequate security, as Amosun donates Armoured Personnel Carrier and two new Nissan Hilux vans




Mr Valentine Ntomchukwu, the Ogun Commissioner of Police, on Friday assured bank operators in Ijebu-Ode, Ago iwoye, Ijebu Igbo of adequate security.


Ntomchukwu gave the assurance during a meeting with the Bankers Forum, Ijebu-Ode branch, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ijebu-Ode.

According to reports that commercial banks in Ijebu-Ode had shut their doors against customers for more than a month based on security and logistics concerns.

Ntomchukwu called for support from the forum and the PCRC in information and logistics, and urged police personnel in the area to discharge their duties effectively.

He later presented a new Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and two new Nissan Hilux vans donated to the command by Gov Ibikunle Amosun to assist in patrol operations in Ijebu-Ode.

Responding, Mr Segun Olusoga, the chairman, Bankers Forum, Ijebu-Ode and Chief Austin Egwogu, the chairman of PCRC, Ijebu Division, assured the police commissioner of adequate support and intelligence gatheringin the area.

Speaking with NAN after the meeting, Olusoga assured that banks in the area would reopen immediately and debunked rumours that previous APCs in Ijebu-Ode were damaged by “fetish means”.

A visit by NAN to banks in Ijebu-Ode confirmed the resumption of operations as their doors were open to customers.

Most of the customers who spoke to NAN expressed joy and relief at the development.
